A celebration of Filipino craftsmanship and heritage for 127 years of Indepence
A celebration of Filipino craftsmanship and heritage for 127 years of Indepence

What do bamboo bikes and ancestral crafts have in common? More than you’d think — and we were thrilled to roll right into the heart of it at Likha 4: Likha Ko, Lahi Ko! Set in the newly opened Foro de Intramuros, this celebration of Filipino creativity, culture, and community was bursting with color, craftsmanship, and stories that connect us to our roots. From the thump of hand-powered looms to the clink of handforged metal crafts, it was a joyful gathering of makers, movers, and heritage lovers — and Bambike was honored to be part of the ride.

Likha, which means “to create,” is a series that honors the rich and diverse traditions of Filipino craftsmanship. This fourth edition was held as part of the festivities for the 127th anniversary of Philippine Independence, reminding us all of the deep connection between our heritage and the freedom to shape our future. From music and weaving to food and functional art, Likha 4 was a lively expression of the creative spirit that has carried us through generations.

One of the most meaningful aspects of the event was seeing how deeply our traditional crafts are rooted in nature. Long before sustainability became a buzzword, our ancestors were already practicing it. From bamboo and rattan to clay and abaca, indigenous materials have long been used not just for their availability, but for their harmony with the environment. These age-old crafts weren’t designed to be eco-friendly — they just are. That’s something we at Bambike deeply resonate with.

Being part of Likha 4 gave us the chance to connect with fellow advocates of Filipino heritage and sustainable living, share our own journey, and learn from others who are keeping our traditions alive in beautiful and meaningful ways. It was a celebration of what we’ve created, and a glimpse of what we can still build together.

To everyone who joined us — thank you. Your presence and support mean the world. As a small way of giving back, we’re offering 10% off tour bookings through our website bambike.com when you use the code “LovePH.” It’s our way of celebrating Filipino Independence and Culture with you. This promo is valid until June 15, 2025!

Maraming salamat, Bambuhay,  and see you on the saddle!
